Michael is an accomplished executive with
broad experience in North America and internationally in
a range of industries. A strategic thinker with a focus
on change management, his creative approach delivers measurable
results in productivity and profitability by leveraging
an organization's human capital and business strategy. Michael's
career has encompassed senior positions with leading corporations
and consulting firms. Currently Michael serves as Senior
Vice President of Human Resources and board member for the
Harcourt Education Group, a global education provider headquartered
in Orlando, Florida. Prior to Harcourt he served as Senior
Vice President, Human Resources for Columbia House Company
in New York, where he was a key member of the Executive
Council tasked with the financial turnaround, a leveraged
buyout in 2002, the re engineering of the business model,
and the sale of the company to Bertelsmann in July 2005.
Michael was responsible for all aspects of Human Resources,
facilities, and internal corporate communications, driving
Columbia House's transformation to a profitable business
in less than two years and leading to the profitable sale
of the company.
Previously Michael was a Senior Manager in the Organizational
and Human Performance Group of Accenture, responsible for
implementation of major change and technical training initiatives
within the energy and chemicals practice. Though primarily
client facing, he also played a major role in recruitment,
selection, performance management compensation, and career
counseling. Michael's career also includes positions in
Training and Development for Matsushita Electric and Lillian
Vernon. Michael holds a BA degree from The University of
Arizona and an MS degree in Human Resource Management from
the New School for Social Research in New York.
